Frequently asked questions

What are Clarity widgets?

Clarity offers two types of widgets. Lock screen widgets display your tasks at a glance whenever you check your phone — they're read-only and available on iOS 16 and later. Home screen widgets are interactive: you can tap checkboxes to complete tasks without ever opening the app. Both sync automatically with your task list.

Do I need an account to use Clarity?

No! You can start using Clarity immediately in guest mode — no sign-up required. Your tasks are stored locally on your device. If you later want to sync tasks across multiple devices, you can sign in with Google or email at any time.

How does cloud sync work?

When you sign in with Google or email, your tasks are securely stored in the cloud and automatically synced across all your devices. Changes you make on one device appear on all others within seconds. Your data is hosted on Supabase, a trusted PostgreSQL cloud service.

Is Clarity free?

Yes, Clarity is completely free to use — all features, no limits, no ads. If you'd like to support ongoing development, you can leave a voluntary tip through our Support Clarity page. Tips are entirely optional and do not unlock any additional features.

How do I delete my account and data?

You can delete your account directly from within the app. Go to your Profile (tap the avatar in the top-right corner), scroll down, and tap Delete Account. This permanently removes your account and all associated task data from our servers. This action cannot be undone.

What data does Clarity collect?

Clarity collects only what's necessary: your task content, authentication details (name and email if you sign in), and basic analytics to improve the app. We do not track your location, sell your data, or show ads. Guest mode users have zero personal data collected. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

Why can't I check off tasks on my lock screen widget?

This is an iOS limitation, not a Clarity issue. Apple's lock screen widgets are display-only — they cannot include interactive elements like checkboxes. To check off tasks, use the home screen widget, which fully supports interactive checkboxes, or open the Clarity app.

Which devices are supported?

Clarity is available for iOS (requires iOS 16 or later for widget support) and Android. The app works on iPhones, iPads, and Android phones and tablets.
